Comprehensive Management of Water Environment and Ecological Revitalization of Former Revolutionary Areas in West Fujian:a Case Study of Water Environment Governance in Central Urban Area of Longyan
Water is the source of life and the foundation of industrial development,and the high-level protection of water environment is closely related to the high-quality development of the region.The former revolutionary areas are mostly located in the late developing areas of reform and opening-up,and urgent economic catch-up strategies often cause environmental damage,especially water resource supply shortages and water quality deterioration.Water environment governance has become a key link in achieving sustainable development.Longyan is the core area of the former Central Soviet Area,with its central urban area located upstream of the Jiulong River.Due to population and industrial agglomeration and inadequate governance,water quality improvement and ecological restoration are facing severe challenges.Longyan City has taken comprehensive governance measures and achieved good results,effectively supporting the construction of ecological civilization in Longyan.Its experience is replicable and promotable and is expected to provide reference and inspiration for the revitalization of former revolutionary areas nationwide.
