Based on the field investigation in Jinzhai county,Anhui province,and the ritual and consumption attributes of red tourism activities,this paper pays attention to the role of tourists'inner emotional experience and subjective development in the realization and development of red tourism's educational function.Building on this,the paper develops a structural equation model with the sense of ritual and satisfaction degree as mediating variables,beliefs and places as independent variables,and transformation as a dependent variable,explores the path to realize red tourism's educational function,examines the relationship between beliefs,places and transformation involved in red tourism activities,as well as the chain multiple mediation role of the sense of ritual and satisfaction degree.The results show that:(1)red tourism's educational function was realized when tourists themselves made positive changes based on transformative experiences;(2)Beliefs and places were not direct causes of the transformation.The opinion that the realization of transformation only depends on personal belief and the audio-visual stimulation of external places does not hold water.Psychological,behavioral,and belief changes were the result of the combined action of the sense of ritual and satisfaction degree;(3)The sense of ritual and satisfaction degree had multiple mediating effects in the process of transformation,which was reflected not only in the single mediating effect of beliefs and places on transformation but also in the chain mediating path of beliefs/places→the sense of ritual→satisfaction degree→transformation.With regard to practical contribution,the above research may act as an inspiration for management organizations of red tourism destinations.When developing red tourism products,they should not only pay attention to the comprehensive emotional experience of tourists such as transcendence,collectiveness and order,but also work to meet tourists'intellectual and cultural needs,improve product quality,enhance tourist satisfaction and further realize the educational function of red tourism.As for theoretical contribution,the transformative experiences can provide a new theoretical understanding and conceptual support for the in-depth development of red tourism's educational function.The concept of transformative experiences is introduced to elucidate that the educational function of red tourism is embodied in the transformation of tourists'psychology,beliefs and behavior based on their transformative experiences.The paper establishes a general mechanism of beliefs/places → the sense of ritual→ satisfaction degree → transformation with transformative experiences as the intermediary.It clarifies the direction and key path of deepening the development of red tourism's educational function and provides new concepts and new theoretical approaches with epistemological significance for the theoretical practice research of red tourism's educational function.Finally,the paper puts forward measures such as exploring the meaning of red culture,improving red tourism infrastructure,enhancing tourist satisfaction,and boosting the development of red tourism scenic spots by adopting an"Internet plus"model,along with policy suggestions in terms of utilizing red resources,passing down revolutionary traditions,and pursuing high-quality red tourism development.
