The Characteristics and Influencing Factors of Tourist Emotion in Literary Tourism Site:The Case of Yang Pass and Yumen Pass
Managing and expressing tourists'emotions has become anemerging core issue for heritage tourism site.In this regard,literature is an important symbol that can arouse tourists'emotional experience and expression,yet limited research has probed into tourists'emotional experience in literary tourism destinations.This study aimed to figure out the characteristics and influencing factors of tourist emotion in literary tourism destinations by taking Yang pass and Yumen pass in Dunhuang,Gansu as examples.These are two famous sites mentioned frequently in ancient Chinese poems,and the typical passes of China's Great Wall cultural heritage system.The authors carried out field research and obtained online comments from three tourism websites by crawler software.Then,the emotional characteristics of tourists and influencing factors were explored by content analysis and emotion analysis methods via ROST CM6 and ROST EA.The results show that:(1)the characteristics of tourists'emotions in literary tourism destinations include mainly positive and negative emotions and have situational heterogeneity,which is the result of multiple factors such as literary works,tourism attractions,tourism facilities and tourism services.(2)Tourists'positive emotions are mainly affected by the historical symbolic significance of literary works,the authenticity of cultural landscape and the locality of natural landscape,the diversity of public cultural and interactive service facilities,the free interpretation services and professional transportation services.(3)Tourists'negative emotions are mainly affected by the negative emotion representation and place image of literary works,the inauthenticity and incompleteness of cultural landscape,the over-comm-ercialization of in teractive facilities and the poor communication network facilities,the inconvenience of ticket services and the lack of free interpretation services.This study has several implications.Theoretically,it refines the elements of the model of literary tourism destination characteristics and innovates the influencing factors of tourists'emotions in literary tourism research from multiple dimensions.Moreover,it clarifies the dual and dynamic effects of the characteristics of literary tourism sites on tourists'emotions.Practically,the findings can be references for the protection of literary heritage,the management of tourists'emotions,and the marketing of literary tourism destinations.Tourism managers should activate and strengthen the historical connotations of literary works and integrate them with local landscapes to create nostalgic images and atmosphere,so as to arouse positive emotions of tourists and enhance their experience.Furthermore,destinations should improve the supply of public cultural service facilities,provide reasonably priced interpretation services,and strengthen the display of the information of poets and the digital display of the remaining materials associated with poems.
