Building modern Chinese civilization is a new cultural mission of the new era and an important part of Xi Jinping Thought on Culture.Modern Chinese civilization is a contemporary civilization with Chi-nese characteristics as well as profound logic of history,time,theory,and practice.Its construction not only involves practice and the quality of society,but also constitutes a significant theoretical area and academic topic.It is the dialectical unity of universality and particularity,the attributes of the Party and people,inheri-tance and innovation,systematicity and coordination,subjectivity and openness.Under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Culture in ideology and practice,the present paper clarifies the methodological principles of building modern Chinese civilization from multiple dimensions of civilization,values,development,struc-ture,and practice.It can serve as a reference for comprehending the underlying reasons of the vitality,rich connotations,and values as well as principles and practical methods of building this civilization.
