The effect of altitude gradient on the diversity of liverworts in typical areas of Motuo County,Xizang
A new list of liverworts in Motuo County was compiled by means of field investigation,spec-imen identification, literature collection and data analysis.More than 1 300 specimens collected were divided into 13 ecological communities according to vegetation types and altitudes. The alpha and beta diversity index of different communities were calculated, and the results sorted out and analyzed, with a total of 38 families,68 genera and 214 species(including 4 varieties and 7 subspecies);six dominant families and eight dominant genera were divided. The diversity in Motuo County showed a"bimodal"pattern with an elevation increase;that is,with increasing elevation, the diversity first increased and then decreased, and increased and then decreased, and there was a possibility of a multi-modal pattern within a larger elevation difference. It was speculated that the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau might be due to the unique geographical environment, the special morphology and structure of liverworts and the environmental response mechanism different from that of liverworts.Among the ecological distribution types, the distri-bution types of lithophytes, geozoans and lithophytes with a low water content and water holding ca-pacity accounted for a relatively large proportion, but with the increase of altitude, the other ecological distribution types showed no significant change.
