"Going out"of Chinese Martial Arts Novels from the Perspective of Paratexts:A Case Study of Legends of the Condor Heroes
With the continuous expansion and deepening of Sino-foreign cultural exchanges,the focus of transla-tion studies has shifted from the translation of foreign literature to the translation of Chinese literature to foreign literature,but most of them focus on the translator's different strategies of text manipulation and the reader's ac-ceptance of the translation.Few literary translations are discussed from the perspective of Paratexts.Genette's the-ory of Paratexts is originally used for the interpretation of literary works,but it also has a good reference value for translation studies.This study selects the English translation of Jin Yong's novel Legends of the Condor Heroes asa case study,exploring the positive influence of the paratexts on the translator's translation intention,the selection of translation strategy,the introduction of historical background knowledge,and the promotion of readers'accept-ance,reveals the way that the paratexts help Chinese martial arts novels"go out".
