Translation of Culture-Loaded Words from the Perspective of Relevance Theory:A Case Study of Two English Versions of Changhenge
In the English translation of poetry,the translation of culture-loaded words has an inestimable effect on the transmission of Chinese and Western cultures,which brings a great test to the translator's translation ability.Taking Changhenge as an example,by comparing the English translations of culture-loaded words in the two translations by Herbert Allen Giles and Xu Yuanchong,this paper verifies the rationality and explanatory power of relevance theory in translation practice,and further explores the different translation strategies adopted by transla-tors,with a view to producing positive significance for the translation of Chinese poetry culture and even the spread of Chinese culture.
