Preparation and Adsorption Properties of Spherical Activated Carbon Based on 8-Hydroxyquinoline Phenolic Resin
In this paper, the spherical 8-Hydroxyquinoline phenolic resin was synthesized by inverse suspension polymerization with phenol, formaldehyde and 8-Hydroxyquinoline as polymerization monomers. On this basis, the porous spherical activated carbon adsorbent was successfully prepared through high-temperature carbonization and activation. The influence of nitrogen content in phenolic resin was systematically investigated on the formation of pore structure in the final spherical activated carbon.Under optimized synthesis conditions, spherical activated carbon 8-HQC-C was prepared with smooth appearance,no detachment phenomenon and rich pore structures. The adsorption performance of 8-HQC-C was investigated using phenol as a small molecule adsorption model and VB12 as a medium molecule adsorption model. Its adsorption capacity is higher than that of commercial carbonized resin Lewatit AF50,which indicates the feasibility of being used as hemoperfusion adsorbent.
