Progress in Polymer Backbone of Anion Exchange Membrane for Fuel Cells
Anion exchange membrane(AEM)is one of the important components of alkaline fuel cells, comprising a polymer backbone, cationic groups, and movable anions. To ensure the stable operation of the fuel cell, the AEM should possess high electrical conductivity, high mechanical strength, and good dimensional stability and chemical stability. The polymer backbone is fundamental to the AEM and determines its overall performance. This paper summarizes the research progress on the AEM polymer backbone, discusses the structural units of ether-free aryl backbone AEM,chain structure, andproperty regulation, and provides an outlook on the synthesis methods of AEM and alternative backbone materials.
