On the Yellow River Legal Culture and Its Contemporary Value During the Xia,Shang,and Western Zhou Dynasties in China
The Yellow River is the mother river of the Chinese nation,and ancient Chinese people created a brilliant legal culture of the Yellow River through long-term production and life in the Yellow River basin.The Xia,Shang,and Western Zhou dynasties,as an important stage in the emergence and development of Chinese dynasties,laid the basic direction for the formation and prosperity of traditional legal culture on the Yellow River in China and became the cornerstone of Chinese civilization's long-standing and enduring legal culture.In the legal practice of Yellow River management and utilization during this period,the organizational form and official position established with the"clan system"as the core became the political foundation for the continuation of Chinese civilization;the legal rules and institutional arrangements based on the principle of"unity of rites and laws"became the institutional support for the continuation of Chinese civilization;the water management concept and water use ideology oriented towards"respecting heaven and protecting the people"became the cultural heritage of the continuation of Chinese civilization.Taking history as a mirror,studying the legal culture and contemporary value of the Yellow River during the Xia,Shang,and Western Zhou dynasties in China can provide innovative paths for the integration of Yellow River culture into the modernization of the rule of law in the new era,and thus provide legal support for the national strategy of ecological conservation and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin for a new era.
