Preparation and Properties of Durable Superhydrophobic Coatings for Wood Surfaces
To improve the service life of wood, the hydrophobic treatment is an effective method. This study employed a spray coating technique to construct a superhydrophobic coating on the wood surface, consisting of octadecyltrimethoxysilane-inorganic-particles-epoxy resin composites. The coating preparation process was optimized by comparing the hydrophobicity of different types and sizes of inorganic particles(titanium dioxide, silicon dioxide)and varied dosages of epoxy resin prepolymer. The results indicated that the optimized coatings maintained a water contact angle greater than 150° even after 20 cycles of sandpaper(1 000 grit)abrasion or 20 rounds of adhesive tape peeling. The superhydrophobic performance of the coatings remained stable, with most of the micro and nanostructures preserved, demonstrating excellent mechanical durability.
