Preparation and Bonding Performance of Modified Cottonseed Protein Adhesive
Using cottonseed meal as the raw material,a cottonseed protein adhesive was prepared by modifying it with urea to expose more reactive groups, then reacting with polyethyleneimine(PEI),epoxy crosslinking agent, and active groups. The optimal dosages of urea,PEI and trimethylolpropane triglycidyl ether(TTE)were explored by orthogonal tests.Fourier infrared spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry were used to analyze the structural changes and thermal stability of cottonseed protein adhesive. The results showed that when the concentration of urea was 2 mol/L,PEI was 8%and TTE was 7%,the wet bonding strength of the prepared adhesive reached 1.24 MPa,which met the requirements of Class II plywood specified in GB/T 9846-2015"General Plywood".
