A Rose for Emily is the representative short story of William Faulkner,a southern American writer. The body in the novel,as a symbol of desire,is endowed with significant significance by the author. On the one hand, the decadent culture of the old South carried by the body has destroyed the body and soul of Southern women represented by Emily, which is of critical significance; On the other hand,as an object of long-term persecution by the power class, the body has a sense of resistance.Starting from the narrative of the body and relying on Foucault's body philosophy and power theory, this article analyzes Miss Emily's suppressed body desires, briefly awakened subject consciousness, and ultimately her withered body and failed resistance un-der triple oppression. It clarifies that power is not a unidirectional ruling force, but a flowing and fluctuating net-work of relationships. It is beneficial to reveal Faulkner's humanism concern in the text and his criticism and re-flection on the traditional culture of the South.
