Throughout the family melodramas directed by Hirokazu Koreeda,the recurring elements and common focuses of family relationships,homeland sentiments and life consciousness have created a triple narra-tive theme at the core.Specifically,between the individual and the individual,it tells of the relationship between family members who are either crippled,unrelated,or separated from each other due to death or division;be-tween the individual and the society,it presents a sense of homeland interwoven with the changes in modern people's psychology and actions,from drifting away from the countryside to nostalgia and then returning to their hometowns;and between the individual and the world,it expresses a sense of life that is unending in the spirit of blending the situation and constructing the object and the self together.The film is an expression of the consciousness of life in a spiritual world where the individual and the world are in harmony.The excavation and elaboration of the narrative motifs of Hirokazu Koreeda's family melodramas can provide insights to enhance the thickness and temperature of related creations.
