The Ghost Writer depicts the widespread strangulation of individuality and the loss of life a-mong the Jewish people in post-war America.This condition is the result of the same mode of thinking that led to the Holocaust in Nazi Germany,which is called the Auschwitz mode of thinking.Causing fissure between Jewish people's public image and private life,between phenomena and essence,between life and art,this mode of thinking enslaves the Jewish masses and entraps the Jewish intellectuals.In The Ghost Writer,Philip Roth em-ploys the narrative technique of ghost-writing to bridge the gap between life and art,private life and public im-age,and thereby uproots the Auschwitz mode of thinking.
