Persephone's Path of Self-discovery——Persephone's Image in Louise Glück's"Averno"
This article attempts to explore Louise Glück's creative rewriting of the ancient Greek myth of Persephone through the analysis of the 2020 Nobel Prize laureate in literature,Louise Glück's poetry collection'Averno',and to reflect on the contemporary human existence through the reshaping of this goddess.The"wan-der"of the wanderer Persephone is not just a drift of identity,between the prisoner and the master;There is also the wandering of words,between speaking and silence,as well as struggles between life and death.The poet had a premonition that Persephone's drift represented a certain dilemma for humanity,which needed to be analyzed from the perspective of self exploration.The entire era is in a state of anxiety and uncertainty,and Persephone in Averno is a typical representative of wandering between the earth and death.
