Comparison of infectivity and drug resistance of patients with pulmonary tuberculosis and type 2 diabetes
Objective To explore the infectivity and drug resistance of patients with pulmonary tuberculosis and type 2 diabetes. Methods A total of 111 pulmonary tuberculosis patients admitted to the Fourth People's Hospital of Yiyang City from January 2023 to December 2023 were selected and divided into a simple tuberculosis group(control group)with 56 patients and a pulmonary tuberculo-sis and type 2 diabetes mellitus(observation group)with 55 patients.Sputum smears were detected by sedimentation adsorption meth-od,erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR)was detected by Westergren method,Mycobacterium tuberculosis was cultured by solid culture method(simple method)and Xpert detection and solid drug susceptibility test for Mycobacterium tuberculosis were used to evaluate drug resistance.Data were analyzed to evaluate differences in slow tuberculosis culture, sputum tuberculosis smears, erythrocyte sedimen-tation rate, and drug resistance between the two groups. Results The positive rate of sputum tuberculosis smear was 66.1%in the con-trol group and 87.3%in the observation group(P<0.05),the mean ESR was 36.3 mm/h in the control group and 57 mm/h in the ob-server group(P<0.05).The proportion of drug-resistant cases was 5.4%in the control group and 21.8%in the observation group(P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that the observation group had a higher cumulative number of lung lobes involved and a grea-ter number of tuberculosis cavities(P<0.05).Conclusion Compared to patients with pulmonary tuberculosis alone, type 2 diabetes mellitus makes pulmonary tuberculosis more contagious and active, with a higher incidence of drug resistance and more severe disease.
