Spleen Aminopeptide Oral Lyophilized Powder Combined With Antibiotics for the Treatment of Elderly Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and Acute Pyelonephritis
Objective To explore the efficacy of spleen aminopeptide oral lyophilized powder(SAOLP)combined with antibiot-ics in treating type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)complicated by acute pyelonephritis(APN).Methods A total of 80 elderly inpatients with T2DM and APN admitted to the Endocrinology Department of Hongqi Hospital affiliated with Mudanjiang Medical University from June 2022 to June 2023 were randomly divided into two groups using a random number table method:a single treatment group(40 ca-ses),receiving antibiotics only and a combined treatment group(40 cases),receiving SAOLP combined with antibiotics. Results The combined treatment group showed lower levels of white blood cell(WBC)count, neutrophil percentage(NEU%),procalcitonin(PCT),C-reactive protein(CRP),interleukin-6(IL-6)and heparin-binding protein(HBP)compared to the single treatment group(P<0.05).Additionally,the combined treatment group had a higher percentage of CD4+cells(CD4+%),CD4+/CD8+ratio and immu-noglobulin G(IgG)levels(P<0.05).Furthermore,the combined treatment group achieved faster recovery in terms of fasting blood glu-cose(FBG)target time, body temperature recovery, alleviation of anorexia, urinary discomfort, renal area tenderness and shorter hospital stays compared to the single treatment group(P<0.05).After a 1-year follow-up,the recurrence rate of APN was lower in the com-bined treatment group, with higher levels of CD4+%,CD4+/CD8+ratio and IgG compared to the single treatment group(P<0.05).Con-clusion SAOLP can improve immune function in elderly patients with T2DM and its combination with antibiotics significantly en-hances the therapeutic efficacy of antibiotics in treating APN.
