Relationship between optical texture and microcrystalline structure of coke
Six groups of binary coal blending carbonization experiments and 12 groups of coking coal and asphalt co-carbonization experiments were conducted with 5 coking coals with different degrees of metamorphism and 4 types of asphalt, respectively. The study was conducted on the relationships between the optical texture index(OTI)and interplanar spacing, microcrystalline height of cokes prepared with 5 single coking coals with different metamorphisms,6 blended coals and 12 co-carbonizations.The results showed that the interplanar spacing and microcrystalline height of cokes prepared from single coking coals varied regularly with the OTI,which was related to the metamorphic grade of coking coals. There were no obvious relationships between the interplanar spacing, microcrystalline height and OTI of cokes prepared by binary blending and co-carbonization.When OTI<1,which was equivalent to the transformation from isotropic texture to fine mosaic texture, the mesophase flowed and melted, the defects in microcrystalline structure were eliminated, and the orientation degree of coke microcrystalline structure was improved. When OTI>2,both the interplanar spacing decrease and microcrystalline height increase slowed down.
