Application study of amphiphobic membrane based membrane distillation in treatment of wastewater containing organic solvent
A feasibility study was conducted to employ amphiphobic membrane built-in vacuum membrane distillation process to treat wastewater containing organic solvent, including N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide(NMMO)solution,ethanol solution, painting wastewater and gas field produced wastewater. The experimental results show that the amphiphobic membrane is applicable to concentrate NMMO solution and gas field produced wastewater.During the experiment, the concentration of NMMO solution is increased from 25.0%to 46.0%,and the rejection is higher than 99.9%;the COD of the gas field produced wastewater after concentration is higher than 15 000 mg/L,and the rejection of salt and organic matter is higher than 99.8%and 95%,respectively.For 19%ethanol solution, the maximum concentration of ethanol in the permeate is 28.0%,higher than that in concentrate, thus the ethanol solution cannot be concentrated because of the high volatility of ethanol. For industrial painting wastewater, the amphiphobic membrane is quickly wetted due to the strong surfactant function of organic solvent 2-butoxyethanol.This study provides directional and experimental support for the concentration of wastewater containing organic solvent by amphiphobic membrane built-in vacuum membrane distillation process.
