Research on Safety of Shallow Burying of PE Pipes in Frozen Soil Based on S4 test
6 kinds of PE pipes from different manufacturers were selected for S4 test to analyze the resistance of PE pipes to rapid crack propagation(RCP)at temperatures of-10,-15 and-20 ℃ and pressures of 0.095-2.570 MPa.The soil temperature and PE pipe temperature of the pipeline belonging to a pressure regulating station in Changchun were meas-ured.The experimental results show that the S4 test verifies that the RCP resistance performance of PE100 and SDR11 series PE pipes is good. The lower the temperature and the higher the pressure, the more prone the PE pipe is to RCP.When the temperature is-10 ℃ and the pressure is less than or equal to 0.89 MPa,the RCP phenomenon does not appear in the PE pipe used in the test. The results of literature research indicate that the lowest monthly average ground temper-ature at 0.8 m underground in major cities in Northeast China is higher than-10 ℃.The experiment verifies the feasibility of shallow burying of PE pipes in north-east China. The soil temperature and PE pipe tempera-ture at 0.8 and 2.0 m underground of Changchun Reg-ulator Station A were measured. When the buried depth is 0.8 m,the PE pipe temperature and soil tem-perature are both higher than-10 ℃.
