Analysis and Suggestions for Medium Conversion of High-pressure Gas Pipeline Pressure Test
According to Standard for Construc-tion and Acceptance of City Gas Transmission and Dis-tribution Works(GB/T 51455-2023),after conducting strength tests using water as the medium, the tightness test medium should be converted to air or inert gas. There are no similar requirements when examining oth-er domestic and international standards.By analyzing the applicability range of air in the tightness test of oth-er standards, the gas tightness test is mainly used for plant and station pipelines, and for non-welded sealing methods.According to the engineering practice, the typical pressure test accidents are compared and ana-lyzed,and two main risks of projectile and crack propa-gation are summarized.Through the theoretical calcu-lations,it is proved that the safety of water as a pres-sure test medium is much higher than that of air in both projectile and crack propagation. It is suggested that the medium used for the tightness test of high-pressure gas pipelines should be consistent with the strength test using water, without the need for medium conversion.
