Simulation Study on Air Volume Balance in Passive Ultra-low Energy Building Toilets
For the winter working conditions, the pressure and exhaust air volume at the entrance to each floor's exhaust shaft are simulated and analyzed, and the reasons for insufficient exhaust air in the passive house toilets and the measures to balance ventilation are dis-cussed.The chimney effect caused by thermal pressure in the exhaust shaft results in uneven ventilation at each floor. The exhaust air volume of high-rise resi-dents is insufficient, significantly lower than the aver-age,resulting in a high concentration of pollutants in the bathroom and a stagnant odor. The entrance to the exhaust shaft for high-rise residents is the most affected by the chimney effect, resulting in the greatest pressure fluctuation. With the increase of outdoor temperature, the negative pressure and exhaust air volume at the en-trance of the exhaust shaft increase, and the concentra-tion to pollutants in the toilet decreases. The improve-ment of the air volume balance of the passive house should start with reducing the chimney effect, and one-way valves can be added at the entrance to each floor's exhaust shaft.
