Flow Performance of Full Bore Ball Valves and Reduced Bore Ball Valves at Different Opening Degrees
The flow resistance coefficients of full bore ball valve and reduced bore ball valve at different opening degrees are experimentally tested. When the opening degrees of full bore ball valve and reduced bore ball valve are less than or equal to 20°,the flow resistance coefficients decrease sharply with the in-crease of the opening. When the opening degrees are within the range of 20°to 50°,the change trends of the flow resistance coefficients gradually become gentle with the increase of the opening. When the opening degrees are greater than 50°,the change trends of the flow resistance coefficients become stable. The pres-sure change and flow rate change of full bore ball valve and reduced bore ball valve at different opening de-grees are simulated. When the opening degree of full bore ball valve is 50°,the vortex phenomenon appears at the valve ball 60°.When the opening degree of re-duced bore ball valve is 60°,there is a vortex phenom-enon at the valve ball, and the vortex phenomenon gradually disappears when the opening degree is greater than or equal to 70°.When the opening degree of re-duced bore ball valve is 80°,there is still a high-speed area, and the high-speed area does not completely dis-appear until the reduced bore ball valve is fully opened. The changes of flow resistance coefficients of full bore ball valve and reduced bore ball valve at dif-ferent opening degrees are simulated. When the open-ing degrees are less than 40°,the changes in flow re-sistance coefficients of full bore ball valve and reduced bore ball valve are more severe. When the opening de-grees are greater than or equal to 40°,the changes in flow resistance coefficient tend to be gradual. The test results and simulation results show that the flow resist-ance coefficient of full bore ball valve is lower than that of reduced bore ball valve at the same opening degree, and the full bore ball valve has certain advantages in flow performance.
