Performance Comparison of Polyethylene Compounds for Gas Purposes with Different Colors
The physical and mechanical proper-ties of PE pipe samples produced with two grades of compounds M(black)and N(yellow)from the same supplier of polyethylene compounds are tested.Be-cause the different antioxidants added during the pro-duction of polyethylene black compound and non black compound, there are performance differences in the pipes.Taking the tested samples as examples, the ther-mal stability of the yellow compound is significantly better than that of the black compound, especially after long-term storage, the advantage is still significant. The tensile performance of black s compound is better than that of yellow compound. As the storage time increa-ses,the oxidation induction time shows a decreasing trend, which can be used as an indicator to characterize the aging performance of PE material. As the storage time increases, the melt mass flow rate shows an in-creasing trend, but whether it can be used as a parame-ter to characterize aging performance still needs further research. As the storage time increases, the elongation at break shows a certain decreasing trend, but further verification is needed as the influence of surface scrat-ches on the sample cannot be ruled out. From the per-spective of application management, non black com-pound is not easily falsified and has a clear indicative and warning effect, which is convenient for gas enter-prises to manage uniformly and has more advantages.
