Experimental Study on Optimal Start-up Load of Porous Media Burners
Using a fully premixed porous media burner, the maximum start-up load, time to enter flame-less combustion and maximum stable load of the porous media burner were investigated under the influence of factors such as porous media thickness, material and pore size. The start-up load affects the operating status of the burner, and an appropriate start-up load can a-chieve flameless combustion of porous media burners. For the burners studied, the maximum start-up load into flameless combustion does not vary significantly,ran-ging from 7 kW to 8 kW,under different porous media thicknesses, pore sizes, material types and arrangement methods. The time for the burner to enter flameless combustion varies significantly under different influen-cing factors.Properly reducing the thickness of porous media, reducing the pore size of upstream porous media, and using porous media with low radiation coef-ficients all shorten the time to enter flameless combus-tion.Under different influencing factors, the maximum stable load that the burner can maintain flameless com-bustion varies significantly. The arrangement methods of upstream silicon carbide and downstream alumina porous media, that is,using downstream materials with lower radiation coefficients, can achieve a larger maxi-mum stable load.
