The Paradigm Shift of Art Basel Hong Kong in the Perspective of Contemporary Curating
With globalization and the establishment and dissemination of regional artistic identity,commercialization and economic benefits are responsible of the rise of public art,private art spaces and art fairs in communities,where the space for art exhibition and the environment for artists'creation have been greatly promoted and improved.Public art projects are planned in museums,art galleries,and large commercial properites,and international biennales,triennials,and art fairs have been successfully held one after another.It has truly entered the vision of contemporary art scholars as a new art exhibition paradigm.This article employs field work,document analysis and other related methods to examine the economic data of art fairs and art dealing phenomena in Hong Kong for more than ten years,and takes Art Basel as a case study.A series of art exhibitions in Hong Kong have established the framework of the contemporary exhibition system in Asia,and the history and reality of the evolution of art in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area have provided useful references for the formulation of national culture and art policies.
