Art for the Public?—A Syndrome Study of the Structural Contradiction in the NEA Strategic Plan(FY2022-2026)
The National Endowment for the Arts published its Strategic Plan(FY2022-2026)in 2022,which contained four parts:the art and the public, art and community welfare, art services and art leadership, the future art endowment and development strategic.NEA wanted to recover the American society which was impacted by the global changes through the arts, such as the pandemic of COVID-19,racial conflict and so on.The Strategic Plan returns to the original idea of art and culture, and reemphasizes the service of art to the publics. If the perspective is changed into the interaction of"historical contexts, social realities, text concepts"in the newly released strategic planning,we can find that the realization of the strategic concept faces some deep structural contradictions, which is needed to use a syndrome reading to restore the true efficacy of state funding.
