Experimental study on relationship between hydraulic head pressure and voltage in electro-osmotic technology
Electro-osmotic waterproofing technology is a new type of waterproofing technology, which has the characteristics of low mainte-nance cost and wide application range. This article used the electro-osmosis method to experimentally determine the drainage rate,elec-trode potential drop, effective potential, and its utilization rate of four different soil samples under different voltages and electric potential gradients indoors. The influence of hydraulic head pressure and voltage on electro-osmosis was analyzed. The research results indicate that the higher the voltage, the greater the electrode potential drop, the lower the effective potential and utilization rate, and the faster the atten-uation of effective potential utilization rate;under the same hydraulic gradient,as the hydraulic permeability coefficient increases, the elec-tro osmotic drainage rate also gradually increases. Moreover, when the ratio of electric potential gradient to hydraulic gradient approaches the value of k(the ratio of hydraulic permeability coefficient to electro-osmosis coefficient),the electro-osmotic waterproofing is success-ful.This study can provide guidance for the engineering application of electro-osmosis technology.
