Correlation between Serum total bilirubin, liver enzymes levels and blood pressure in elderly Patients with hypertension
Objective To investigate the association between serum total bilirubin, liver enzymes levels and blood pressure in elderly patients with hypertension. Methods Two hundreds and fifty-theree patients at the Dongfeng Hospital from January 2022 to August 2022 were selected.Patients were divided into hyper-tension group and control group based on whether they had hypertension. The hypertension group was fur-ther divided into grade 1,grade 2 and grade 3 groups. The serum total bilirubin and liver enzymes were compared between the two groups.Spearman analysis was used to determine the relationship between serum total bilirubin, liver enzymes and blood pressure grades. Results The total bilirubin level in the hyperten-sion group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).The levels of ALT,GGT and ALP in the hypertensive group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).Binary logistic regression analysis showed that there were significant differences in serum total bilirubin and ALT between the two groups(P<0.05).Spearman correlation analysis showed that serum total bilirubin was negatively correlated with blood pressure grading in elderly patients with hypertension(rs=-0.511,P=0.000).Conclusions Serum total biliru-bin and ALT were related factors of hypertension in elderly patients. As the blood pressure level increases, the serum total bilirubin level decreased. The serum total bilirubin and ALT levels should be monitored in elderly patients with hypertension to guide intervention in a timely fashion.
