Incidence and mortality of esophageal cancer in Taicang in 2019 and its trends from 2010 to 2019
Objective To analyze the incidence and mortality of esophageal cancer in Taicang in 2019 and its trends from 2010 to 2019.Methods The cases of esophageal cancer came from the tumor registration and reporting system of Taicang,and the deaths came from the cause of death registration system.Crude inci-dence,crudemortality,incidence rate by Chinese standard population,incidence rate by world standard popula-tion,mortality rate by Chinese standard population,and mortality rate by world standard population,cumula-tive rate of 0-74 years,truncated rate of 35-64 years were calculated by Excel 2019 and SPSS 18.0.Chi-square test was used for comparison between men and women.Joinpoint software was used to calculate annual per-centage change and 95% confidence interval.Results In 2019,the crude incidence of esophageal cancer was 7.23 per 100 000,and the incidence rate by Chinese standard population and incidence rate by the world standard rate were 2.24 per 100 000 and 2.31 per 100 000,respectively.The crude mortality rate was 7.84 per 100 000,and the mortality rate by Chinese standard population and mortality rate by the world standard population were 2.60 per 100 000 and 2.62 per 100 000 respectively.The crude morbidity and mortality,the morbidity and mortality rate by Chinese standard population,the morbidity and mortality rate by the world standard population,the accumulation rate of 0-74 years old and the truncation rate of 35-64 years old were all higher in males than in females.Between 2010 and 2019,morbidity and mortality of male were higher than that of female.The incidence and death of esophageal cancer showed a decreasing trend,and the APCs of crude incidence,incidence by Chinese standard population and incidence by the world standard population were-3.94%,-9.76% and-9.37%,respectively(P<0.01).The APCs of crude mortality,mortality by Chinese standard population and mortality by the world standard population were-3.87%,-9.08% and-9.02%,respectively(P<0.01).Conclusion The incidence and mortality of esopha-geal cancer in Taicang in 2019 were lower than the national level.In the past 10 years,the incidence and death of esophageal cancer in males were higher than that in females.Crude morbidity and crude mortality,morbidity and mortality by Chinese standard population,morbidity and mortality by world standard popula-tion all showed a decreasing trend.
