Research on the Family Music Environment for Preschool Children
Accurately assessing the family music environment for preschool children is crucial to promoting music education for them.Currently,there is much controversy in the international academic community over the structure and measurement of the family music environment for preschool children.No domestic research has yet been conducted on this aspect,and,what is more,there is a lack of measurement tools suitable for Chinese fami-lies.To address this issue,by adopting an inductive and deductive approach,and drawing upon foreign research findings regarding the structural dimension and measurement of the family music environment,we have developed and validated an assessment scale for preschool children's family music environment tailored to the Chinese con-text.The validation findings show that the family music environment for Chinese preschool children primarily com-prises five key dimensions,that its specific structure is a bit different from what is found available in the West,and that its scale developed has good reliability and validity.
