Mao Ze-dong's Leadership in Establishing the Legal System in New China:
After the founding of New China, the CPC members, mainly represented by Comrade Mao Ze-dong,adhered to the principles of people's sovereignty, party leadership and seeking truth from facts, established a socialist legal system, and realized the transformation of social system and governance mode. The construction of the legal system in New China was carried out under the guidance of the Marxist theory of jurisprudence, upheld the rule of law in accordance with the Constitution, promulgated laws and regulations in the areas of political organization, civil marriage, economic reform, and criminal penalties, and constructed a new legislative system and a relatively independent judicial system. The legal system of New China is distinctly socialist in nature,as it adheres to the principal position of the people and innovates a multi-functional judicial mechanism that unifies trial with mediation and punishment with rehabilitation,so as to ensure the extensive participation of the Party and the people in the whole process of law formulation, implementation and supervision. It is of great significance for developing and improving the socialist system of law ruling with Chinese characteristics to draw on Mao Ze-dong's legal thought and the wisdom and strategies of his practice.
