An Overview of Overseas Studies on Deng Xiao-ping in the Past Decade
In the past decade,with the great attention paid to the deepening of China's comprehensive reform and opening-up and the historic achievements in social development,overseas studies on Deng Xiao-ping have taken on new characteristics and formed some new hot issues.In terms of biographical studies,works that further depict Deng Xiao-ping's life on the basis of his achievements at a certain stage of his life continue to appear.As for ideological research,the exploration of Deng's economic and diplomatic thoughts is more thorough and has developed some emphases.In addition,whole-process and comparative studies of Deng Xiao-ping have been prominent features.On the whole,overseas studies on Deng Xiao-ping in the past decade demonstrate three distinctive features:from the perspective of overall trend,research has become more problem-oriented and focused;from the content point of view,more attention has been paid to the contemporary significance of Deng Xiao-ping Theory;and concerning research methodology,the method of comparative analysis has continued to be adhered to.
