The Disparity Between Chinese and Westem Development Concepts:A Perspective from GDP-Only Growth Theory
Development philosophy,an important part of a country's culture and values,determines its goals of economic development,path of realization and distribution of development results.The GDP-only theory dominated by the West has long exerted a large impact on the global scale.However,since increasing problems grew out of excessive emphasis on economic growth,the development concepts of both China and the West have changed.On the whole,China and the West have both similanties and distinctive features in their economic development philosophies.The new development concepts put forward by China provide theoretical support for promoting China's high-quality economic development,and are of great significance for comprehensively advancing Chinese modernization and realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.Based on a critique of the GDP-only theory,this paper analyzes the similarities and differences between the development concepts of China and those of the West,and accordingly puts forward the idea of constructing statistical indicators that embody the new development concepts.
