Mao Zedong had a lifelong passion for reading,especially history books.Mao Zedong's reading of history has the following basis:firstly,to grasp China's national conditions;secondly,accumulate indirect ex-periential knowledge;the third is to explore the correct guiding ideology for China's new democratic revolu-tion;the fourth,cultivate the CPC into a learning party;the fifth is to learn from history and serve reality.Mao Zedong had a unique method of reading history:firstly,take notes;secondly,read repeatedly;thirdly,read in conjunction with reality;lastly,divide the reading into two parts.Mao Zedong evaluated historical figures and events from the perspective of Marxism:firstly,whether to promote social development and progress was used as the standard for positive or negative evaluation;secondly,the criteria for providing positive or nega-tive evaluations are whether to promote ethnic integration and national unity;once again,adhere to the theory of class struggle and advocate for the peasant class to resist;finally,grasp the essence of historical events and characters through phenomena.
