Cultural Capital and Academic Achievements of Middle School Students in the Context of Chinese-style Modernization
Cultural capital is an effective theoretical concept to understand the reproduction of social education.This article takes the Chinese-style modernization as the background and adopts CEPS(2014-2015)tracking data analysis,while focuses on the impact of cultural capital on academic achievement middle school students;in the process of modernization and its mechanism.The research findings are as follows:firstly,under China's education system,different types of cultural capital have different impacts on the academic achievements of middle school students,and there is a significant direct positive effect of extracurricular tutoring,but the direct effect of cultural activities and material cultural resources is not obvious;secondly,teacher-student interaction perception and academic self-efficacy play a chain intermediary role in the process of cultural capital influencing academic achievement.The research results indicate that the effect and applicability of cultural capital theory are limited in China's education system.At the same time,this study introduces the intermediary variables of subjective attributes,which expands the traditional research methods focusing on objective attributes,and initiates a possible new path for social reproduction research.
