The Development Trend of Western Educational Anthropology from 2013 to 2023:Analysis based on Anthropology &Education Quarterly
Under the background of the overall change of anthropology,western educational anthropology also presents a new development trend.By systematically reviewing the research articles published in Anthropology & Education Quarterly from 2013 to 2023,this paper summarizes the basic content of western educational anthropology research over the previous 10 years,and analyzes the development trend of western educational anthropology.The study found that at present,western educational anthropology mainly focuses on three aspects,which are immigrant education and culture interaction under the background of globalization,structural oppression and resistance action in the modern educational system,emotional experience and ethical practice in the cross-cultural situation.It also presents the differences but internal connections with three characteristics:on the basis of reflection on critical research,more attention is paid to the resistance action and initiative of vulnerable groups;as the defects of representation theory are becoming more obvious in the research,some educational anthropologists advocate to use non-representation theory as a remedy;the situational ethics and inter-subject ethics of researchers have got more attention in participation observation.Clarifying the development trend of western educational anthropology has important reference value and inspiration for the future development and construction of domestic educational anthropology in China.
