Optimizing Public Space:Promoting the Social Cohesion of Solidifying the Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation
Public space is a symbolic field for maintaining and strengthening social cohesion.It is not only the basic element for superposition and convergence of physical space,social space and emotional space,but also an important connection to strengthen the spatial proximity of individuals and groups and eliminate separation and gaps.Solidifying the sense of community for the Chinese nation is gradually formed and strengthened by the people of all ethnic groups in the specific public space and the common communication practice.The public space provides a strong spatial support for solidifying the sense of community for the Chinese nation with the common public place,the embedded social relations and the unique place spirit.From the perspective of public space,this paper constructs a spatial code and analysis framework representing the cohesion of the Chinese nation based on physical,social and emotional dimensions.Taking the perspective of public space,and basing on the space symbol and analytical framework representing Chinese ethnic cohesion constructed by the three dimensions of physical,social and emotional,the article takes the public space of colleges and universities as case study,so as to clear out the spatial operation mechanism of neighborhood spatial division,social capital cultivation and collective memory strengthening.It proposes the physical space for optimizing life practice and creating a social space for equal development,practical direction of expanding the emotional space of the"Five Identities",building a spatial community integrating geography,interests and values,which can provide a useful reference and lessons to learn for the public space to solidifying the sense of community for the Chinese nation.
