Research on the Relationship between Market Expansion of Head Firms and Changes in Industry Labor Income Share
To study the impact of changes in market share of top enterprises on industry labor income share,based on data from Chinese industrial enterprises from 1998 to 2007,we calculated the market share and labor income share of top manufacturing enterprises,and established an econometric model for empirical analysis.The results show that the increase of market share of head firms significantly reduces industry labor income share,and the above effect is more obvious in capital intensive industries.The inter-firm redistribution effect and intra-firm effect are the main sources of labor income share changes,while the impact of enterprise entry effect and exit effect is relatively small.The change of market share of head firms affects industry labor income share through the redistribution effect among firms.
