On Translation Strategies of On Climbing Youzhou Terrace under the Guidance of"Three Beauties"of Xu Yuanchong
Chen Ziang's On Climbing Youzhou Terrace opened the romantic tradition of Chinese poetry in the mid-Tang Dynasty.Based on Xu Yuanchong's theory of"Three Beauties"as the guiding principle,translation strategies in aspects of poem image,rhyme,sentence length were analyzed from"beauty of meaning,sound and form",in order to better convey the original artistic conception of the poetry,providing referential model.It is found that under the guidance of Xu Yuanchong's theory of"Three Beauties",poetry translation can be carried out with clearer thinking,and the interpretation of"beauty of meaning","beauty of sound"and"beauty of form"and the words'choosing also point out the direction for translators.In the teaching of English translation of ancient poetry,teachers can guide students to explore the strategies of translating ancient poetry into English under the guidance of Xu Yuanchong's"Three Beauties Theory"from three aspects:beauty of meaning,sound and form.
