The Overlapping word Formation in Ningbo Dialect:An Investigation Centered on XingShiYan
Reduplication is a kind of word formation with the characteristics of Chinese language,and it is also one of the important word formation methods in Ningbo dialect.The language used in XingShiYanis basically Wu language,which has some similarities with that of Ningbo dialect:in terms of syllables,it can be divided into monosyllabic overlap and double-syllable overlap.The parts of speech include nouns,verbs,adjectives,quantifiers,adverbs.In structural form,the overlapping form of monosyllabic nouns is expressed as"AA",the overlapping form of monosyllabic verbs is"VV",the overlapping form of monosyllabic adjectives is the complete overlapping form"AA",the overlapping form of monosyllabic quantifiers is"AA",and the overlapping form of monosyllabic adverbs is"AA".The superposition of disyllabic nouns is"AABB",the superposition of disyllabic verbs is"VNVN",and the superposition of disyllabic adjectives is mainly"AABB""ABB"and"AAB".
