Studies on process and kinetics of decalcification of bighead carp scale by hydrochloric acid
Decalcification of fish scale is an important pre-treatment process for collagen extraction from fish scale. With bighead carp scale as research objective, hydrochloric acid solution as decalcification agent and hydroxyapatite consumption rate as target, the single experiment method was used to investigate the effects of reaction time, hydroxyapatite concentration, hydrochloric acid concentration and reaction temperature on hydroxyapatite reaction consumption rate and their optimalvalues were determined to be 40 min,0.017 4 mol · L-1,0.5 mol · L-1 and 20 ℃,under which the hydroxyapatite reaction consumption rate reached 3.744 9 x 10-4mol · L-1 · min-1 with corresponding decalcification rate of 86.20%.The kinetic equation of the decalcification was established, which reflected the change relations of hydroxyapatite reaction consumption rate with hydroxyapatite concentration, hydrochloric acid concentration and temperature. The model values were basically agreed with experimental ones, which can be used for decalcification process adjustment, product control and prediction of hydroxyapatite consumption rate at different conditions.
