Preparation,Microstructure and Properties of(MoNbTiVZr)C High Entropy Ceramics
(MoNbTiVZr)C high-entropy ceramics(HECs)were prepared by spark plasma sintering(SPS)using carbide powder as raw material. The effects of sintering temperature ranging from 1500 to 2000℃with interval of 100℃on the microstructure and mechanical properties of HECs were studied. The results showed that when the sintering temperature was 2000℃,the carbides rich in high melting point Nb and Zr elements were fully dissolved except that a small amount of ZrC was oxidized, and the sintered samples were mainly in(MoNbTiVZr)C HECs phase featuring FCC structure. The density of(MoNbTiVZr)C HECs sintered at 1500~2000℃exceeded 97%.As the sintering temperature rised, the average grain size increased while the hardness and fracture toughness decreased. When the sintering temperature was 1800℃,the prepared ceramics had better comprehensive mechanical properties that the hardness and fracture toughness reached(21.44±0.94)GPa and(5.44±0.29)MPa·m1/2,respectively.
