Preparation and influencing factors of waterborne polyurethane modified with trimethylolpropane
Trimethylolpropane(TMP)which contains three hydroxyl groups, plays a crosslinking role in the preparation of waterborne polyurethane, and can improve its water resistance, heat resistance, and mechanical properties. The effects of molar ratio of isocyanate group and hydroxyl group(R value),types of isocyanates, and low molecular weight polyols on the properties of waterborne polyurethane were discussed respectively, and then the effects of TMP on the performance of waterborne polyurethanes were investigated by optimisng the synthesis process of waterborne polyurethane and adjusting the amount of TMP added. The results show that when using polycarbonate diol(PCDL)and tetrahydrofuran copolymer ether(PTMEG)(molar ratio is 1:1)for the soft segment, and isophorone diisocyanate(IPDI)for hard segment, and adding 0.5%TMP,the emulsion is stable with a water resistance rate of 2.01%,the tensile strength is 20 MPa,and elongation at break is 108%.
