Effect of teaching with fun cards on insulin knowledge training for nursing students in Endocrinology Department
Objective To observe the effect of teaching with fun card on insulin knowledge training for nursing students in department of endocrinology of a tertiary grade-A hospital. Methods Nursing interns were divided into control group(n=40)and experimental group(n=40)according to the time of admission to the department.Traditional lectures and operation demonstrations were used for insulin knowledge training in the control group. On the basis of the teaching methods in the control group, teaching with fun card was added in the third week in the experimental group. The results of insulin-related theoretical knowledge assessment were compared in the two groups. Results After training, the score of theoretical knowledge of insulin in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05),and the average score of the three modules, including insulin classifications insulin injection skill and site rotation, and precautions for insulin use,was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Fun card as a teaching method can effectively enhance nursing students'theoretical knowledge of insulin. This approach not only stimulates their interest but also reinforces their understanding of insulin in a relaxed atmosphere. Moreover,it aids in improving nursing students'ability to classify and recognize different types of insulin. It can serve as a valuable reference for selecting insulin knowledge training methods for clinical nursing students.
