Objective To explore the cognition and understanding of the Transition Readiness Measure(TRM)in patients with transitional inflammatory bowel disease(IBD),and to re-test the Chinese version of the TRM.Methods Objective sampling method was adopted to select 18 patients with IBD in transitional period from two tertiary grade-A hospitals in Shanghai and three rounds of cognitive interviews were conducted to understand their cognitive level on the first draft of the Chinese version of TRM.The ambiguous items were revised based on the opinions of the expert panel to form the Chinese version of TRM.Results The first round of interviews showed that some interviewees were confused about the expressions of four items. The second round of interview showed that two interviewees were confused about the expressions of one item. The third round of interviews show that all respondents can fully understand the revised items and maintain the semantic consistency with the source scale. Conclusion Cognitive interview helps to further revise the scale from the perspective of patients, promotes the consistency of respondents'understanding of the Chinese version of the scale, and improves the applicability and accuracy of the scale.
