Qualitative study on learning experience of nursing undergraduates in synchronous classes of MOOC Westbound Program
Objective To investigate the learning experience of nursing students in western universities attending synchronous classes of MOOC Westbound Program.Methods A descriptive phenomenological method was used to conduct semi-structured in-depth interviews among 15 nursing students,and the data were analyzed by Colaizzi's seven-step analysis.Results According to the interview data,5 themes and 6 sub-themes were summarized,including extending thanks for MOOC Westbound Program;stimulating rich emotional experiences;creating active classroom atmosphere;promoting personal growth(broadening professional horizons;enhancing comprehensive capabilities,and increasing professional identity),and problems existing in synchronous classes(poor network equipment;single form of interaction,and positive and negative reviews).Conclusion The synchronous classes enjoy a high recognition and stimulate rich emotional experience.They achieve remarkable teaching effect,which is helpful to promote the personal growth of nursing students.
