Development of guideline-based exercise rehabilitation handbook for patients with chronic heart failure
Objective To develop a guideline-based popular science handbook for exercise rehabilitation of patients with chronic heart failure,and to enhance the effectiveness of health education in clinical practice.Methods Within the framework of existing guidelines,the development of the handbook was guided by a systematic methodology referenced from patient health education material assessment tools,.Key themes for popular science were identified through qualitative interviews.The results of the interviews were meticulously matched with evidence from the guidelines,distilling evidence entries corresponding to each theme,which were then transformed into patient-friendly formats such as text,visuals,etc.The handbook was subjected to an external review by a panel of nine professionals(including two physicians,two nurses,three patients,one evidence-based medicine expert,and one science editor).Results The developed handbook on exercise rehabilitation for patients with chronic heart failure covered eight main themes,including benefits,suitable populations,contraindications,pre-exercise assessment,choice of exercise settings,exercise modalities,supervision during exercise,and effectiveness assessment,encompassing 18 detailed subthemes.After two rounds of external reviews,the second round of satisfaction score ranged from 77.8%to 100%,with a coefficient of variation between 0 and 0.102.Conclusion The development of this popular science handbook for patients with chronic heart failure is scientific and has been widely accepted by medical professionals and patients.TIt can serve as a significant reference for the development of more cardiovascular popular science materials.
