Current status and influencing factors of father involvement in infant care:a 206-case study
Objective To explore the current status and influencing factors of paternal involvement in infant among 206 fathers.Methods With convenient sampling,206 fathers of infants were recruited,and they were investigated by using the General Information Questionnaire,the Chinese version of Paternal Involvement with Infants Scale(PIWIS),and the brief Co-parenting Relationship Scale.Multiple linear regression analysis was used to analyze the influencing factors of paternal involvement.Results In PIWIS,the dimension of warmth and attunement scored the highest was 6.38±0.93,and indirect care the lowest was 3.45±1.60.The residential status of the father and infant,co-parenting support,and social support were influencing factors of father involvement in infant care(P<0.05).Conclusion Father involvement in infant care is characterized by high warmth,positive attitude and low direct and indirect care behaviors.More focus should be considered for fathers who are separated from infants and have low couple support.
